mariek works at the intersection of ambient electronic : social friction : spiritual jazz : balkan fiction;

mariek creates a dynamic system of subtle multi-layered sonic textures to fracture boundaries between organic sound and electronic synthesis ; old traditions and underground experimentalism ; synthetic soundscapes and fractured folklore ; memory and displacement ; sentimental silences and tangible noises : freedoms over forms ;

by approaching sound as a living energy mariek gives main space to fluid intuitive processes to sculp the sound that is constantly shifting, always becoming, never confined : this makes her persistently excited :

rather than conventional concerts, mariek designs sonic rituals - immersive, multisensory experiences that explore the social potential of sound across diverse spaces


mariek creates at dawn, sleeps by 10, lives on seven coffees a day, and avoids anything that feels like a have to - but give mariek a deadline, and she is unstoppable!
