About
What if Balkan had never existed?
Žižek dreams, so do I is my homage to an imaginary Balkan that gave me birth. It is a story about roots, the hyperreal experience of surviving a melting world, the birth and death of one nation, and its power of desire. I believe in the myth about the Balkan Peninsula that is transhistorical, a natural impulse perpetuated from war to war, while now it seems to be the safest place after all. It is heterotopia with several layers, always questioning social values such as democracy, freedom, or individual and collective identity. Balkan is the creation of paradoxes that keep inspiring the world, even though no one actually knows how to articulate this place.
This is also my silent attempt to rebuild a sense of home in this newborn Balkan. This is also my loud attempt to connect our humankind again.
The struggle is not over yet.
